Outstanding Chintz Star with Toile Backing, circa 1800-1840. Measures 101 x 96". Amazing chintz vine and flower in gorgeous color, pieced 8 point stars, rich toile flower basket and feather backing.
This is so gorgeous in person, it is hard to describe. Please see the close-ups of the fabrics, there are chintz floral on a blue and white stripe, rich colors thru-out, a virtual candy shop for the fabric lovers' eyes. Hand quilted at 8-10 stitches per inch. Hand bound. Near mint condition. A nickle size ink spot and a square of tanning affects the back only. One front red piece shows popping, hard to find. Fabrics are strong and unfaded. Backing is pieced from 24" wide toile. This quilt should be in a museum!
